Fog Light Indicator
Info Only — Urgency 1/5Completely safe. Use fog lights when visibility is below about 100 metres (roughly the length of a football pitch). Switch them off when conditions improve. This is general information only.
This is general guidance. Your situation may differ — when in doubt, don’t drive.
What does this mean?
This light tells you that your front or rear fog lights are on. Fog lights sit lower on your car and are designed to cut through fog, heavy rain, or mist. The rear fog light is a very bright red light that helps the car behind you see you in poor visibility.
What should I do right now?
Nothing to worry about — this is an indicator, not a warning. Just remember to turn your fog lights off when visibility improves. It is actually illegal in many places to use fog lights in clear conditions because they can dazzle other drivers.
