Seatbelt Reminder

Info Only — Urgency 1/5
Can I still drive? — Yes, in most cases

Completely safe to drive — just put your seatbelt on! Wearing your seatbelt is the single most effective thing you can do to protect yourself in an accident. This is general information only.

This is general guidance. Your situation may differ — when in doubt, don’t drive.

What does this mean?

This light (and usually a chime) is reminding you or a passenger to buckle up. It is triggered by weight sensors in the seats. Sometimes a heavy bag on the passenger seat can set it off too.

What should I do right now?

Make sure everyone in the car has their seatbelt fastened. If it is a bag or shopping on a seat triggering it, you can move it to the footwell or boot. The light and chime will stop once everyone is buckled in.
